Phuket may not be the competitive place for shopping if comparing with Bangkok. However, you can not deny that Phuket is a very good place to shop for arts, crafts, and many local products of abundant small industries in southern Thailand. This article is not for persuading you to visit some plances in Phuket. This is about a very wonderful place of the world to recommend who is now in Phuket, in Thailand, or who plans to come here within May.

The place is the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The islands are located far from south of Thailand about 1,000 kilometers and are actually part of India located in the Bay of Bengal. These 600 islands are one of the few amazing islands in the world. They have lots of hidden natural beauty on land as well as in deep sea. Things You Should Know

• The Islands are home of some ancient tribes that totally avoid contact with the outside world and continue to live in the way their ancestors have done for centuries. The ancient tribes maintain their sovereignty over the island and are hostile towards outsiders. However, as a tourist, you will not have chance to go near them if you not seek for.
• The Andaman Islands are a large residence of Saltwater Crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus), the largest living reptile in the world. Their long is average about 15 feet but also found the biggest at 28.7 feet. The crocodiles are not in public; however, if you plan to go there please be careful about this. In 2010 at Radhanagar beach, there were a few travelers had incidents with crocodiles.
• As this is a part of India, local people are very conservative. For men, please try not to flirt local women as you can do in some other places. You will find no pub culture and dance club here, and you will be advised to drink alcohol at your hotel only. It sounds boring but please believe that the beauty of the place will not make you feel so. And, you will find peacefulness is the very happiness of the Islands.
• Scuba diving is the best recommended activity for tourists. The best diving sites in the Andamans are Havelock Island considered as the main dive destination, the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park , Barren Island (an island with an active volcano), Narcondam Island (an island with an extinct volcano), Invisible Bank (about 100 miles Southeast of Port Blair). You have to go there by boat, please make sure that the tour company you go with is really keen on the sites. If not, it may not be a safe trip.
• Large parts of the Islands were occupied by British during the colonial era and by the Japanese during the World War II. Port Blair is the only city place you can find historical attractions of those past days.
